Quest Food Management Services joins effort to save Ross School
Donates $1,000 to restore one-room schoolhouse

Quest Food Management Services has joined the effort to Save Ross School, a historic one-room schoolhouse on Bell Road.

The Lombard-based company, which serves up fresh, healthy meals to Homer 33C students and staff each day, contributed $1,000 toward the restoration efforts. It is the largest monetary donation received to date.

“Quest is excited to be part of this historic restoration,” said Michael McTaggart, CEO and Owner of Quest Food Management Services. “I remember seeing this building the first time I visited the district. Quest is proud to help support the students that fought to keep the school as part of their day.”

Ross School was built circa 1850s and served generations of students up until 1956 when Homer Community Consolidated School 33C was established with the consolidation of six one-room schoolhouses.

The district is in the midst of a $10,000 fundraising campaign to restore the school, which was moved to the entrance of Homer Junior High School in 1997.

Volunteers have already addressed structural concerns at the school by adding collar ties inside the school and replacing the leaky roof with materials donated by Filotto Construction and Richards Building Supply Company.

Funds are needed, however, to restore or replace some of the siding, windows, doors and hardwood flooring.

If you would like to join the effort to Save Ross School, please contact Homer 33C Communications/Public Relations Manager Charla Brautigam at 708-226-7628.
