Parkland officials block Charlie Kirk a conservative from speaking at school. But see who they did allow to speak.

Prominent pro-Trump pundit Charlie Kirk, who founded student activist organization Turning Point USA, was scheduled to speak at an event at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the coming weeks, but was abruptly disinvited, forcing him to host an off campus event.

And some people believe Kirk’s conservative views, especially his pro-Second Amendment stance, contributed to school officials’ decision to disallow Kirk from speaking at the school.

What happened?

MSD students Kyle Kashuv and Patrick Petty invited Kirk last week, who, in a tweet announcing he accepted the invitation, predicted school administration would block his ability to speak.

I have been invited by students at Parkland high school to come as a guest speaker in the coming 2 weeks. I excitedly accept and look forward to discussing our right to bear arms in front of a captive student audience

And Kirk was right. Last week, Broward School District officials said Kirk would not be allowed to speak at the school.

“The school’s administration has met with the student organizers and advised them that non-school sponsored, student-initiated guest speaker assemblies/meetings are not permitted to take place on campus,” Cathleen Brennan, a spokeswoman for the district said in a statement, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

The district did not elaborate on why Kirk was barred from speaking.

However, Kirk believes he knows the reason why: because Kirk is a conservative, pro-Second Amendment and would share a view counter to that of other prominent MSD students like David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez.

“I bet if I was advocating for gun confiscation things would be quite different,” Kirk said on Friday after the decision.

Kirk reiterated that belief on “Fox and Friends” Sunday morning, adding that “more speech is going to solve that, not dis-invitation of speakers or the blocking of different ideas.”

But was allowed to speak?

According to Kashuv, Miami Heat superstar Dwayne Wade came to campus last month to meet with prominent MSD students who were at the time planning a nationwide gun control march.

It’s quite interesting that @DwyaneWade was allowed on campus to push gun control – on what appears to have been a student invite – but @charliekirk11 isn’t allowed to.

Indeed, Wayne tweeted after meeting with students:

Is an alternative event planned?

Yes, according to Kashuv, later this month — at an off campus location, of course.

I am pleased to announce that @charliekirk11 will be speaking to the students, off MSD campus, on April 24th! (Location still TBD).

The topic of conversation will be how to save lives without violating the Constitution and in ways that actually work.
