33C awarded Library Grant to supplement, update its book collection
Homer School District 33C has been awarded a School District Library
Grant award in the amount of $2,716.50.
The money will be used to purchase current, award-winning books that
appeal to today’s student.
“We appreciate this opportunity to supplement our annual library budget
and to purchase books that will keep our library circulation current,” stated
Dr. Kathleen Robinson, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.
The district learned of the award in early January when it received a
letter from Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White.
“I
commend you for taking advantage of this grant opportunity to improve library
resources and services to benefit your students,” he wrote in the letter.
He went on to explain that the School District Library Grant provides
supplementary support for the school district’s library media program, which
enhances student learning and academics.
Appropriate uses of these grant funds include:
●
The acquisition of library
materials to support reading for academics and enjoyment
●
Library subscriptions to
electronic resources
●
Library based technology to
support student research
Homer 33C applies for the grant each year and usually receives an
allotment based on its student enrollment.
This year, it will receive 75 cents per student.
