Control phrases and code words

By Bob Livingston

Control phrases and code words

"But it is requisite that members of the common herd be imprisoned in abject ignorance, never doubting that they are 'free and self-sovereign individuals' who are in full control of their lives and families, and who can speak freely on any subject they choose, and worship whatever God their consciences dictate." — Unknown

There is such an avalanche of information bombarding the American people that it all has a mind-numbing effect. That information is peppered with code words and control phrases that are designed to dictate thought patterns, modify behavior and create predictable responses.

Most people are unaware that code words and control phrases exist, and that the aim of the unseen powers is to ensure the masses of people believe essentially the same things. That's because governments thrive on control, conformity and manipulation.

Governments insist on conformity because governments want to control the people. Where there is conformity, there is control.

Edward L. Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud, knew a thing or two about mass persuasion. He is the father of manipulative propaganda in America. In his book "Propaganda," Bernays writes:

Those who manipulate the unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested largely by men we have never heard of.

In almost every act of our lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business or in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind.

I call these people Bernays talks about "change agents." Change agents operate in the back rooms or inner sanctums of power, and their job is to create control words or phrases that are repeated over and over to dumb us down and dictate conditioned responses.

So the words and phrases the establishment creates and uses against us can rightly be called control words or control phrases.

Words and phrases are created that are used to drive the debate and create a ready acceptance of laws and policies that reduce liberty and debase society. Once these words and phrases become part of conventional wisdom through continued use, challenges to the newly accepted definitions are ridiculed and dismissed.

For instance, the substitution of the word "gender" — a grammatical term — for the word "sex" — a biological term — as a distinguishing descriptor for male or female is the work of these change agents.

The effect is to program the mind. It removes the biological component that distinguishes male from female and inserts an esoteric component that allows for the denial of reality and creation of an alternate reality.

I have written about code words before. See, "Code words," and "More code words." Common ones are terms like "public policy," which really means government policy; "conspiracy theory," which means any challenge to conventional wisdom; "extremist," which means anyone who advocates for small government and a return to the constitution; and "terrorist," which means anyone the government decides, including Americans who advocate for liberty.

But new ones are constantly entering the lexicon, and old ones are given new life. Here are some coming into regular use of late:

White privilege — This phrase implies that all successful white people obtained their status simply because of their skin color and because the system is tilted in their favor. It dismisses and diminishes hard work and seeks to establish the notion that anything a white person has or does is illegitimate. It's being used to great effect by the social Marxists to keep racial and sexual animosity at a fever pitch and to silence those who support traditional conservative and Judeo-Christian values.

Bad optics — This one reared its head in the Brett Kavanaugh hearing. It is code for "everything is unfair if it is being conducted by white conservative male," and "old white Republican men should not make decisions on women's issues." Only liberals can participate in the process (and sex, age and race does not matter). It is designed to delegitimize any process in which a white conservative male is involved.

Trade bullyism — China's response to President Trump's trade war. What China calls America's trade protectionism while ignoring its own protectionism. Another version of this is political bullying. Hillary used this very tactic when she told CNN, "You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about … if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that's when civility can start again." Classic example of projecting, i.e., accusing the other side of doing exactly what members of your side are guilty of.

National security — That is now a new code word for "we can do whatever we want." The "we" can be the any government agency. Claiming "national security" automatically puts any inquiry off limits and legitimizes any government action, no matter how nefarious.

Diversity — Means anti-white male and anti-Judeo-Christian values.

Capitalism — The American system is not capitalism and has not been for more than 100 years. What is called capitalism today is actually corporatism — few corporations controlling everything — example, what we have in the media, big tech and pharmaceuticals. It results in authoritarianism and a kind of fascism. However, socialists — who are becoming more ascendant in American politics of late, especially among the younger crowd — are blaming this on capitalism, which is a lie. If we had real capitalism and a real free market, this wouldn't happen.

Objective media — This means the agenda of the state. It is a control phrase used to bolster the concept that the only "real" news comes from the mainstream media. Today, all national mainstream media are controlled by six mega-corporations. Any media that does not toe the official line of the government is considered "biased" media, especially when it publishes the truth.

Claim From Left: Requiring Voter Registration Is ‘Voter Suppression’ Tool

Hans von Spakovsky The Daily Signal

As Election Day rapidly approaches, the radical Left is making yet another absurd claim: that requiring voter registration is a “voter suppression” tool.

Registration is essential to assure the integrity of elections. It allows election officials to verify the eligibility and identity of voters. It also enables them to make sure they will have enough ballots in polling places that use paper ballots — and that’s the majority of jurisdictions across the U.S.
The Washington Times recently reported that the Texas Democratic Party “asked noncitizens to register to vote, sending out applications to immigrants with the box [on] citizenship already checked ‘Yes.’” And Texas is not the only state where the accuracy and integrity of the voter-registration process is imperiled.
To improve the accuracy of the state’s records, Georgia legislators last year passed a law requiring voter-registration-application information to match a “driver’s license, state ID card or Social Security record.” Inconsistencies can cause a voter’s registration to be flagged as “pending” while the discrepancy is investigated.
Stacey Abrams, the Democratic candidate for governor, accuses the Republican candidate and current secretary of state, Brian Kemp, of “voter suppression” simply for complying with this law.
But here’s the rub: A “pending” status does not bar anyone from voting. All they need do is “show a government photo ID that substantially matches the registration application.” Even if the voter’s information can’t be verified on the spot, the voter can cast a provisional ballot that will be counted once the registration information is verified by local election officials.
How can that be “voter suppression?”
So why the uproar about voter registration? Abrams claims that Kemp’s effort to enforce the law is an “intentional move” to suppress votes, especially of minority voters. Kemp has refuted those claims and says that application discrepancies that make registrations “pending” are due to “sloppy forms” submitted by the New Georgia Project, a group founded by Abrams herself in 2014 that “set out to sign up 800,000 new young and minority voters.”
The real issue here is a disregard for election integrity. And that includes those who are calling for an end to traditional voter registration in favor of automatic voter registration based on government databases such as driver’s licenses and property-tax records.
While government records are useful for verifying voter registrations, research shows they would be ineffective in creating accurate voter rolls. One of the most glaring problems with these databases is that they cannot verify a basic eligibility requirement for voting — citizenship. Noncitizens can receive driver’s licenses in all 50 states, and illegal aliens are receiving licenses in more than a dozen states, including California. Noncitizens also pay property taxes. Automatic voter registration would register all such ineligible individuals.
Moreover, individuals can be listed multiple times in different government databases that would be a source for automatic registration. For example, one person may pay taxes in multiple counties and multiple states, raising the possibility that he could vote multiple times, in multiple jurisdictions.
Also, voter registration requires a signature to verify petitions, ballot initiatives, and absentee ballots. Many government databases don’t contain signatures and thus would be useless for verifying signatures.
Such issues came to light recently in California, where the DMV admitted that, in just the last two months, it had mistakenly registered 24,500 ineligible individuals, including noncitizens. The problem arose because of the state’s new voter-registration process, which automatically registers people who renew or replace their driver’s licenses. The error came to light only after a Canadian citizen told the media he had been improperly registered by the state.
No evidence exists that eliminating voter registration will increase turnout. In fact, Census Bureau data from the 2008 election found that individuals who were not registered to vote did not cite registration problems as the reason for not voting. Instead, 46 percent were not interested in the election and 35 percent listed other reasons, such as “not being eligible to vote, thinking their vote would not make a difference, not meeting residency requirements, or difficulty with English.” The biggest reason for individuals’ not registering and not voting is a lack of interest in politics and candidates, which has nothing to do with registration.
The registration fight in Georgia is just part of a larger effort by the Left to undo any reforms that increase the security and integrity of the voter-registration and election process. Ensuring election integrity begins with creating and maintaining accurate voter rolls. Voter registration is an essential part of the process, and it should be a bipartisan effort.

Next for Judge Kavanaugh: Are There Any Honorable Senate Democrats?

Next for Judge Kavanaugh: Are There Any Honorable Senate Democrats?

Next for Judge Kavanaugh: Are There Any Honorable Senate Democrats?
After the unbelievably savage and despicable effort to destroy Judge Brett Kavanaugh through false and dishonest personal attacks, the burden should be on the Senate Democrats.
The New Yorker smear was an absurdity. A woman could only remember a self-described drunken event after six days of discussion with her attorney. Everyone connected with the event repudiates her attack on Judge Kavanaugh.
The Avenatti client’s claim of a series of gang rapes was beyond unbelievable. Classmates and high school friends of Kavanaugh simply repudiated her as a liar making up a fantasy assault on the nominee.
Another absurd attack came from a mother whose daughter promptly says nothing happened, and her mother is simply wrong. The daughter goes on to affirm Judge Kavanaugh’s decency as someone she briefly dated and remembers fondly.

Senator Grassley’s staff received messages containing vicious threats, such as they deserve to be raped (these messages, by the way, should be tracked down by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted).
The Kavanaugh family received death threats (which again, should be tracked down and prosecuted).
Dr. Ford and her family have received death threats after being forced into the Democrats’ scheme (these should also be tracked down and prosecuted).
Judge Kavanaugh’s wife and two young daughters have had to endure vicious, humiliating, personal attacks on their husband and father.
Dr. Ford has been manipulated by the Democrats, who hid her letter for over a month, dragged her into the national limelight, and urged her avoid meeting with the GOP staff. One excuse she used was that she was afraid to fly (the interviewer pointed out during the hearing that Ford had made numerous flights for vacations).
She was put through all of this even though she could not remember in what house the alleged gathering and assault took place in or when it occurred. At the same time, no one she said was present has corroborated her story.
She was emotionally compelling, and it is clear that something happened to her – but she knows as a professional psychologist that 36 years after an event, people can vividly remember things that aren’t true.
If Judge Kavanaugh can be defeated by this kind of manufactured and manipulated process, what reasonable conservative would ever put his or her name up for Senate confirmation?
Some people have said Judge Kavanaugh should have been better vetted. How could he have been? He has undergone six separate, thorough FBI background checks for top positions throughout government.
Further, he says he never did any of the things for which he is being attacked. He could not have known in advance how to defend himself against allegations that he didn’t do. It’s impossible to plan or anticipate last-minute character assassinations that are based on falsehoods and impossible-to-verify charges.
So, the key to the next stage is not the Republicans.
The real question is: Are there any Democrats who are disgusted by this process of dishonest character assassination and manipulation? Are any upset that this is becoming their party’s operating pattern?
Are there any Democrats whose sense of decency forces them to vote “yes” for a decent man, whose entire public career has exemplified honesty, sincerity, and patriotism?
Are there any Democrats who understand that a 36-year-old, unsupported allegation can’t possibly be the standard for blocking a U.S. Supreme Court nominee?
If no Democrat has the courage to vote for decency, honesty, and a sense of fairness, then we are truly in deep trouble as a country.
The focus for the next few days ought to be on the Democrats.
Let us see what kind of a party they have become.

Illinois homeowners sinking underwater on mortgages

Voting for Democrats over and over is like asking the people that were on the Titanic if they would vote to hit the iceberg knowing the result.

Keeping the same Democrat Party that caused the problem in power with your vote is the definition of asking to maintain everything that will sink Illinois.

Make sure you vote and bring a friend. Every vote counts!                                                                 Fix our State Vote Republican.

Steve Balich Editors Note:
As property taxes increase so does the value of your home and the money you have left to spend from your pay check. Your disposable income is also taking a hit when sales tax and fees are increased. Bottom line, The more the government takes the less you have. With increased demand from government taking more and more of your hard earned money every way they can think of many people find it difficult to pay their mortgage. For those on a fixed income, the government is forcing some out of their homes.

More Illinois homeowners sinking underwater on mortgages

Illinois has more homeowners with mortgages that are higher than what their homes could fetch on the market than nearly any other state – and the problem is getting worse.

In the second quarter of 2018, 18 percent of Illinois’ homes were considered seriously underwater, or mortgaged for more than 25 percent of the potential sale price of the house. That’s according to ATTOM Data Solutions’ report released Thursday. That’s higher than it has been since 2016. In some of Chicago's western suburbs, more than 70 percent of homeowners owe 25 percent more than the price their home would sell for.
The national average for the second quarter was 10 percent.
Many of those areas are seeing big home value deficits because buyers pulled the trigger at the height of home prices. Geneva (76.0 percent); Elgin (75.5 percent); St. Charles (73.6 percent); and Sugar Grove (71.9 percent) were behind only Springfield, Missouri, in terms of percentage of residents more than 25 percent underwater on their homes.
“Even though those markets are recovering and home prices are coming back slowly, they haven’t recovered the equity loss during the downturn,” ATTOM vice president Daren Blomquist said.
Twelve of the top 20 markets for percentage of seriously underwater homes were in Illinois.

Losses in population, seen in nearly every county in Illinois in 2017 Census reports, tend to push home values down since the demand for homes is slowed.
“It even makes it tougher for those who still own homes there to recover equity and, in fact, you may see them lose equity,” Blomquist said.
The city of Peoria, which saw the biggest percentage of population loss in 2017, had 46 and 29 percent of homes in it’s two zip codes register as seriously underwater.
High property taxes, something notorious to Illinois, will suppress home values, pushing a homeowner further under, Blomquist said.
Homeowners underwater on their mortgages will also be hesitant to sell their homes since they would have to afford the difference between the lien and the sale price. This will leave homeowners chained to their residence that they may want to vacate.
The statewide median price in June was $225,000, up 4.5 percent from June 2017, according to Illinois Realtors.

Frustrated by growing costs, a couple local elected officials move out of Illinois

FILE - U-Haul, moving van

By Cole Lauterbach | Illinois News

A couple of local elected officials are leaving their posts to move out of state, fed up with rising property taxes.

In the far northwest suburbs, Lakewood Village President Paul Serwatka plans to resign this summer when he moves to Alabama. He said his new home in Huntsville sits on more than 10 times the land that his home in Illinois does and costs a fraction in property taxes.

In his short time as village president, he said he worked to lower the tax burden for residents of Lakewood, a village of about 4,000 people in McHenry County. He succeeded in reducing the village’s property tax levy by 10 percent, but he said many residents came to him with higher tax bills than the year before because the other taxing bodies raised their levies, pushing overall property tax bills up.

“I felt like I could fight this thing for another 20 years, but do I really believe at the end that we’re going to save Illinois?” he said. “I just don’t believe it.”

Serwatka faced criticism from residents and other members of the Lakewood Village Board. The local newspaper called for his immediate resignation.

He said he wishes he could have done more, but said he had to take his family into account.

“By the time our kids are in college, a good portion of their college tuition will be sitting there waiting for them just by the difference in property taxes,” he said.

McHenry County College trustee Chris Jenner was laid off from his day job in 2016. Already dealing with his wife’s illness, he resigned late last year and moved to Fort Myers, Florida. He was frustrated that he couldn’t lower taxes for residents that saw property taxes soar.

“Why give all this money to the government instead of saving it for your own retirement?” he asked.

Jenner lost tens of thousands of dollars on his home after a tepid response to paying market value in such a high-tax area.

“We had to lower the asking price by more than $70,000 before we got a single offer,” he said. “It was an absolute nightmare.”

Both he and Serwatka said many homeowners that would want to leave the state were in a situation where their mortgage was worth more than the value of their house, commonly known as underwater.

Then-state Rep. Pam Roth, R-Morris, resigned her seat in 2013 to move to Texas with her family. In an interview with Illinois News Network, Roth talked about the differences between the states.

“I’m amazed by how prosperous it is down here," she said. "Everywhere you look, there are cranes and buildings going up. This is very much what happens when you live in a business-friendly state with low
