Cook County Ballot Initiative making elections for all Cook County countywide office non-partisan

Fellow Palos/Orland Republicans:

I am writing today to inform you of a crucial countywide ballot initiative.

The Cook County Republican Party, in conjunction with the Rauner campaign, has begun circulating petitions to get a binding referendum question on the ballot which would make elections for all Cook County countywide office non-partisan. This initiative, if we are successful, will have a longstanding impact on our ability to run candidates countywide.

That said, this is going to be an extremely heavy lift. The minimum signature requirement is 107,000, and our goal is to file ~150,000 signatures by the August 6 deadline. That is why I am asking  everyone  for their help in circulating.

If you have ever complained about the lack of candidates for countywide office, use this as your opportunity to truly make a difference.

If you have any questions regarding this initiative, do not hesitate to contact Shaun McCabe at any time via email (smccabe@brucerauner.com) or via phone (773-332-4376).

Thank you for your attention to this important issue.

Sincerely,

Sean M. Morrison
Committeeman, Palos Township
