Batinick to host free financial aid workshop for college students October 16
PLAINFIELD – State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) will host a free workshop on Tuesday October 16 for college students and their families to learn about student financial aid.
“Paying for college is one of the toughest financial challenges local families face,” Batinick said. “This workshop is intended to help local students find ways to ease the burden of obtaining a college education.”
The free event will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Plainfield Township Community Center at 15014 S. Des Plaines Avenue in Plainfield. It will include information on college costs, the types of financial aid that are available and how to go about applying. The presentation will be offered in both English and Spanish. Reservations or appointments are not necessary.
To file paperwork for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), an applicant will need their Social Security Number, an Alien Registration Number if the student is not a U.S. citizen, last year’s tax returns, W-2s and other records of income, banking statements or records of investment if applicable, records of untaxed income if applicable, and a list of colleges the student would like to attend.
More information about the FAFSA is available at https://fafsa.ed.gov/. Anyone with questions about the event can contact Batinick’s Plainfield office at (815) 254-0000.
