Planning for the Invasion

Planning for the Invasion

Originally published at Fox News   By Newt gingrich
Planning for the Invasion
As of Tuesday, the caravan of now more than 7,000 Central American invaders trekking through Mexico toward the United States was roughly 1,000 miles from the nearest point of entry. A second group of roughly 1,000 is also seeking to join them.
They may still be weeks away from our border, but this leaves little time for President Trump, Congress, and all Americans who care about our national sovereignty and the rule of law to solve three incredibly pressing challenges. I discussed these on Monday on Facebook.
First, we must determine – and do – what we can right now to end this invasion before it reaches our doorstep. Second, we must develop and execute a cohesive, efficient, effective plan for preventing these invaders from illegally crossing our border and swiftly deporting those who are successful. Finally, we must fix the debilitatingly stupid amalgam of immigration laws, policies, and court rulings that enable and encourage migrants to band together and stage these types of illegal invasions.
Should we fail to solve any of these problems, our already dysfunctional immigration system will be further crippled, our relationships with Mexico and our Central American neighbors could be severely damaged, our border will be overwhelmed by droves of new migrants, and America will become significantly less safe.
If this caravan is allowed to get through, the next caravan will be even bigger – and the one following that will be enormous. According the Gallup World Poll, 29 percent of people who want to migrate from Latin America and the Caribbean want to make the United States their permanent homes. That is 37 million people who want to come here. We must demand and ensure that they do so legally.
The clearest answer to alleviating this issue while the caravan is still in Mexico, is for Mexico to stop it. President Trump has already made clear that securing the border is more important than our recent trade agreement with our southern neighbor, and Mexico should take him seriously. Many of the members of this caravan forced their way through the Guatemala-Mexico border. They are already in violation of Mexican law, and Mexican law enforcement should take action.
Furthermore, we should not underestimate the degree to which human traffickers and transnational criminal gangs, such as MS-13 and other cartels, are involved with this invasion force. Mexican authorities should also be seeking to weed these elements out of this migrant army – and dealing with those who may have legitimate asylum claims through the Mexican system.
Our neighbors must understand that while they did not assertively deal with this problem at their southern border, they will own the problem if it gets to their northern border.
This relates to what we must do if or when the caravan is allowed to arrive at the U.S. border.
President Trump should instruct the Attorney General to issue a clarification to define the qualifications for asylum. Asylum is meant to provide protection for people who are fleeing real persecution and human rights abuses, such as genocide. Simply being from a poor country that lacks opportunities does not qualify someone for asylum.
We already have approximately 750,000 backlogged asylum cases, and some of those cases date back to 2014. These invaders should be screened (preferably in Mexico) so they never enter the U.S. system.
The federal government should also immediately begin coordinating with local and state governments along the border to develop an organized, completely nonviolent system that can deter these migrants from crossing into the United States and process and return those who do within a matter of days – not weeks, months, or years. I know Texas already works with federal officials to prepare for mass migration events. Other border states should follow suit (if they don’t already) and begin preparing now for this caravan’s potential arrival.
If we are serious about preventing this caravan invasion from being imitated, we must overwhelm them, stop them in their tracks, and quickly return them to their home countries. By my estimate, we should have four to five U.S. forces for every member of the caravan. If we want to protect our country, our border, and our rule of law, we must mobilize so much force that we don’t have to use it.
The news media should be allowed to cover the preparation and the overwhelming response to the caravan, so the members of the caravan – and every potential caravanner across Central and South America – will see that their plan will not work.
These first two problems are urgent and difficult. The third problem is just as urgent – but it is an order of magnitude more challenging. That is figuring out how we must fix our failing immigration system so that this type of situation doesn’t arise again.
Our immigration system has been completely broken by Democrat-backed laws that make it easier for immigrants to flood our system and stay in our country while their cases take years to process. It has been further hobbled by activist judicial rulings that have tied the hands of border enforcement officials and prevented them from keeping track of those who cross the border illegally.
Once we deal with the immediate problem of this invasion caravan, Republicans and the White House must work to fix our broken immigration system once and for all.

Daily Beast says Clinton must go

Dear God, Hillary Clinton. Please, Just Go.

No one benefits from her latest venture back onto the political scene.
OPINION

Hannah Peters/GettyWe’re three weeks out from the 2018 midterm election, and Hillary Clinton is popping up again like a Halloween ghoul who keeps rising from the grave to terrorize the American public; only this time accompanied by the increasingly #MeToo burdened uber-villain, Bubba.

The Clintons, it seems, can’t seem to call it quits, even if it means leaving members of their own party cringing and many more voters ready to “headdesk” themselves into a coma.
This time, it’s happening courtesy of a pay-through-the-nose-to-see-them rehab tour. Because if there’s one thing America hasn’t had enough of over recent decades, it’s efforts by the Clintons to recast themselves as normal, likeable people, as they cash checks and play the victim.
Previous editions of this show have included Hillary’s two Senate runs and two presidential runs, which, depending on one’s perspective, were either an attempt to show independence from her husband or to be compensated for his myriad screw ups.
But despite the last run ending with a loss to Donald Freaking Trump, the most flawed candidate Republicans could conceivably have run in 2016, it appears that nothing will get Hillary out of our political debate once and for all.
Hillary remains caught up in the delusion that the only reason she lost in 2016 was because of Russian interference. She does not seem to have fully processed the fact that she lost the electoral college, the only vote that counts.  She touts the fact that she got nearly three million more votes than Trump while conveniently leaving out that her tally of the vote still fell well below 50 percent.
Both of the major party nominees in 2016 were so unlikable, flawed and—let’s be candid—unethical that lots of us just couldn’t pull the lever for her even if we couldn’t stand Trump. According to a studyfrom American National Election Studies, the words most associated by voters with Hillary in 2016 were “experienced liar.” Is it logical that she’d want to rehab her image, given all this? Perhaps. Is it possible? No. Do we need to watch her try? Definitely, definitely, definitely not.
Hillary’s continual pursuit of limelight and headlines ensures that the image of the Democratic Party remains an outdated, outmoded, and frankly despicable for far too many voters. This comes at a time when leading Democrats are attempting to focus voters’ attention on the future—2020, and beating Trump—and jostling for the role as the new party leader.
It also undercuts Democrats’ positioning as the only party that really cares about #MeToo and that will fight for survivors, a contrast Dems are only too keen to spotlight in the wake of Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court and ongoing allegations about President Trump’s treatment of women.  Only sheer partisan convenience could allow someone to insist that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony is credible while downplaying the numerous allegations of mistreatment (and worse) made by women against Bill Clinton.
For the Democratic Party, about the best that can come of this latest Clinton revival is that no matter how unpalatable any of its leading lights—Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Kamala Harris, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Sen. Cory Booker, or others—are individually, they’ll look like downright appealing the longer Hillary hangs about.
But her doing so does not signal that the Democratic Party is actually living in the present, and focused on beating Trump. Rather, it suggests the party wants to turn American politics into the new edition of Groundhog Day—only with no Bill Murray or actual groundhog. Isn’t it time to let the Democratic Party move on from its Clintonite past, and to give someone else a go?
One of the reasons Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been so refreshing isn’t just because the more Democratic Socialist-driven, modern Democratic Party—which is populated to a greater degree by younger voters—wants a younger, more progressive avatar to embrace. It’s also because even Republicans are starting to get weary of bashing the Clintons now; though some of us will undertake it still as a public service.
Clinton is like the target you’ve already shot dead-on so many times the paper has gone to shreds. There are few more column inches to be written, but even Fox News personalities have begun to act a little bored when they dive into Hillary-focused narratives these days.
All of which suggests that for Republicans, too, it’s time to move on—to fresh fights, with fresh adversaries. We want the newest bad guy, not the evildoer from the biggest show in the freaking 1990s. Maybe in 2020 that will be Warren, Gillibrand, Harris, or Booker, or any one of the other 20-some people that might potentially run for president on the Democratic side. But it’s a dead certainty that it isn’t the lady we’ve seen inveighing against the right wing for stealing things she seems to think she or her husband are inherently entitled to for decades now.
It’s time for Hillary and Bill to get off the stage and quit seeking the public adoration they’re clearly never going to get to the massive degree they crave it. Be content, like so many other party elders who turned out not to be winners, in working behind the scenes to help to deliver wins for other, better, up-and-coming, appealing voices.
Yes, others have stuck around past their primes. Mitt Romney, a candidate with a similar resume of high profile presidential losses, is now running for Senate. But his circumstances are different. He was asked to run for the seat that he will soon occupy by its current occupant and he’s maintained strong ties to Utah. Even then, his continuing presence on the political stage irks a ton of Americans who wish he too would go away quietly.
So, Hillary, ditch the rehab tour. Dispense with TV appearances. Recognize that whether it’s lauded or not, you did make some kind of a difference (yes, even Hillary did a couple of things right in her various terms in public office), and be content to leave it there.
Zombie movies for Halloween are fun. But whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or neither, there’s only so much zombie politics you can take. That’s what the Clintons essentially offer now—a brain-devouring, egocentric version of Democrat-ism lurching and festering onward, seemingly endlessly.

100 ISIS Terrorists Caught in Guatemala as Central American Caravan Heads to U.S.

100 ISIS Terrorists Caught in Guatemala as Central American Caravan Heads to U.S.

From Judicial Watch

In a startling revelation, Guatemala’s president announced in the country’s largest newspaper that nearly 100 ISIS terrorists have been apprehended in the impoverished Central American nation. Why should Americans care about this?

A caravan of Central American migrants is making its way north. Let’s not forget that Guatemala is one of the countries that bombarded the U.S. with illegal immigrant minors under Barack Obama’s open border free-for-all. They came in droves from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala through the Mexican border and for years Uncle Sam rolled out the welcome mat offering housing, food, medical treatment and a free education

A terrorist could have easily slipped in considering the minors, coined Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC), were not properly vetted and some turned out to be violent gangbangers who went on to commit heinous crimes in their adopted land of opportunity. In fact, the nation’s most violent street gang, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), was energized by the barrage of UACs.

The Texas Department of Public Safety even issued a report documenting how the MS-13 emerged as a top tier gang in the state thanks to the influx of illegal alien gang members that came with the UACs. At the time more than 60,000 UACs—many with criminal histories—had stormed into the U.S. in a matter of months. Tens of thousands more eventually made it north.

Guatemala has long been known as a major smuggling corridor for foreigners from African and Asian countries making their way into the U.S. Last year Guatemala’s largest paper, Prensa Libra, published an in-depth piece on the inner workings of an international human smuggling network that moves migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bangladesh to the U.S. Individuals are sent to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates then flown to Brazil before heading to Colombia.

Once in South America, the migrants are transported to Panama before moving on to Costa Rica then a central point on Guatemala. One Spanish news report refers to Guatemala as a human smuggling paradise because it’s so easy to get fake passports. A few years ago, the head of Guatemala’s passport division got arrested for selling fake passports to a group of Colombians, according to a government announcement.

All this makes ISIS terrorists operating in Guatemala incredibly alarming. President Jimmy Morales confirmed it during a recent security conference attended by Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as well as the presidents of Honduras and El Salvador and other Latin American dignitaries.

Morales said that his administration has captured “close to 100 persons completely involved with terrorists, with ISIS and we have not only detained them within our territory, but they have been deported to their country of origin.” Several of the terrorists were Syrians caught with fake documents, according to Guatemala’s head of intelligence. At the same event, President Morales also revealed that Guatemalan authorities captured more than 1,000 gangbangers, including members of the MS-13.

Many more probably make it into the U.S. via the Mexican border and a lot of them get released inside the country. In fact, Border Patrol agents in Texas have been ordered to release illegal immigrants caught entering through Mexico because detentions facilities have no bed space, according to a news report.

Earlier this year Judicial Watch exposed a secret program—started by Obama and continued by Trump— that quietly relocates illegal immigrants to different parts of the country on commercial flights. Years earlier Judicial Watch uncovered a similar DHS initiative that transported illegal immigrants from the Mexican border to Phoenix and released them without proper processing.

The government classified them as Other Than Mexican (OTM) and transferred them 116 miles north from Tucson to a Phoenix bus station where they went their separate way. The OTMs were from Honduras, Colombia, El Salvador and Guatemala and a security company contracted by the U.S. government drove the OTMs from the Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector where they were in custody to Phoenix. Some could have been ISIS operatives.

Voters Say Government Should Stop Hondurans At the Border

Voters Say Government Should Stop Hondurans At the Border

RASMUSSEN

Voters agree with President Trump’s efforts to stop the horde of Hondurans marching through Mexico from entering the United States illegally.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 51% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the U.S. government should stop all the Hondurans headed this way from entering the country. Thirty-eight percent (38%) disagree and say the government should allow them to enter temporarily until each of their cases can be individually reviewed. Eleven percent (11%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Ninety-three percent (93%) of voters who Strongly Approve of Trump’s job performance want all the Hondurans kept out. Among those who Strongly Disapprove of the job the president is doing, 69% think the migrants should get case-by-case reviews.

Eighty percent (80%) of all voters have been closely following news reports about the Honduran group that is coming here illegally, with 46% who are following Very Closely. By comparison, 88% were closely following news reports about the Senate confirmation hearings of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, with 66% who were following Very Closely.

Among voters following news reports about the Honduran caravan Very Closely, 61% think they all should be stopped.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on October 21-22, 2018 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Voters continue to believe illegal immigration is a major problem, and few feel the government is doing enough to handle it.
Seventy-nine percent (79%) of Republicans and 53% of voters not affiliated with either major political party say the government should stop all of the Hondurans. Sixty-four percent (64%) of Democrats think they should be allowed in temporarily until their cases are reviewed.

Republicans are following news reports about the Honduran march more closely than Democrats and unaffiliated voters.
Men feel more strongly than women that they all should be prevented from entering the United States illegally. Those under 40 are more supportive of a case-by-case review than their elders.

Blacks are more welcoming to the Honduran migrants than whites and other minority voters, but they are also following news reports about them less closely.

For Republicans, illegal immigration is the most important issue in the upcoming elections, although this survey was taken before the Kavanaugh controversy.

Right now, voters think it’s easier for illegal immigrants to get into the United States and stay here than in much of the rest of the world.

The Republican-led Congress has produced yet another big spending bill that fails to fund the president’s border wall even though a sizable majority of GOP voters supports the project.

Most voters (52%) think illegal immigrants are a significant strain on the U.S. budget, and 45% believe illegal immigration increases the level of serious crime in America.

Trump agrees with Obama Video

President Trump tweeted a video Tuesday evening of then-Sen. Barack Obama condemning illegal immigration while adding that the United States cannot let unvetted people enter the country.

In the video, which dates back to 2005, Obama said, “We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States but those that enter the country illegally and those that employ them disrespect the rule of law and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law.” (RELATED: Pence: ‘Inconceivable’ Middle Easterners Not Part Of Caravan)
“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently and lawfully to become immigrants in this country,” he added.

The president’s tweet comes as thousands of people are marching from Central America through Mexico with their end goal being the United States. (RELATED: DHS: More Than A Half Million People Tried To Illegally Cross The Southwest Border In FY2018)

Canal path rapist gets max sentence

Miguel Luna sentenced to 80 years for raping two women

Eric Ginnard - eginnard@shawmedia.com

A sign direst traffic to the I&M Canal Passage on Friday in Joliet. Miguel Luna, who was ordered to be deported in March 2012, was convicted and sentenced to 80 years in prison for the rape of two woman, one along the canal's path, in 2016.

On a Sunday morning nearly three years ago, Miguel Luna said he pedaled his bicycle along the Illinois & Michigan Canal path on the way to work a shift as a busboy at Jameson’s Pub in Joliet.
“That Sunday, I woke up, got on my bike, my heart full of joy and Christian songs,” Luna said, telling how he also planned to go to church that day.
But before he made it to work, Luna leaped from his bicycle onto a woman who was jogging on the path, then brutalized and raped her for an hour.
Luna described the woman as “something terrible waiting for me to test” his Christian strength.
Luna, 37, gave a lengthy, rambling statement at his sentencing hearing Monday afternoon, repeatedly invoking God, Jesus and forgiveness, and telling how he was raped by two older brothers when he was a child in Mexico.
He also said he was raped by a stranger who had offered him a “plastic bag full of money” in exchange for oral sex.
When Luna was finished, Will County Judge David Carlson gave him 80 years in prison, the maximum sentence he could impose.
Carlson imposed the maximum sentence despite Luna having pleaded guilty to raping the two women, calling the crimes “horrific” and “unspeakable.” The judge said looking at the person who committed such atrocious crimes was “almost surreal.”
“These were rapes of their souls,” Carlson said.
Luna had been ordered to be deported in March 2012. He raped the two women in 2015 and 2016.
Luna also sexually assaulted a third woman, a prostitute he agreed to pay $50 for sex, but then assaulted and only offered $30. She has since died.
“Based on everything here before me, you shouldn’t have been in this country,” Carlson said. “Time and time again there were contacts, and you were free, free to commit these acts.”
Carlson blamed this on “misguided political correctness” or “people who don’t believe in laws or borders. I don’t know.”
He does know he will be more vigilant about the immigration status of defendants appearing before him.
“I’m changing the way I do things in this courtroom because of you, Mr. Luna,” Carlson said.
During his statement, Luna explained that he attacked the women because he had been overcome by temptation.
“I couldn’t stop myself that morning, even though I tried with all my heart,” he said of his September 2015 attack.
“The more I think about what I have done to my victims, the more I think I’m the worst person in the world,” Luna said.
Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Fillipitch told how Luna, after he was arrested, blamed his crimes on the provocative attire of American women.
“I don’t like this country,” Fillipitch said Luna told detectives. “Everywhere you go, you see girls almost naked. Mexico is a little bit different.”
Fillipitch also told of Luna practically begging to be locked up until he dies.
“I deserve all my life in jail,” the prosecutor said Luna told detectives. “I’m not the judge, but I’m going to ask for God’s mercy.”
Carlson told him to take that up with God.
“Quite frankly, Mr. Luna, that’s between you and your God and Jesus,” said Carlson, who called the fact that “we’re going to pay to clothe and house and feed” Luna the “most perverse” aspect of the sentence.
