Planning for the Invasion

As of Tuesday, the caravan of now more than 7,000 Central American invaders trekking through Mexico toward the United States was roughly 1,000 miles from the nearest point of entry. A second group of roughly 1,000 is also seeking to join them.

They may still be weeks away from our border, but this leaves little time for President Trump, Congress, and all Americans who care about our national sovereignty and the rule of law to solve three incredibly pressing challenges. I discussed these on Monday on Facebook.

First, we must determine – and do – what we can right now to end this invasion before it reaches our doorstep. Second, we must develop and execute a cohesive, efficient, effective plan for preventing these invaders from illegally crossing our border and swiftly deporting those who are successful. Finally, we must fix the debilitatingly stupid amalgam of immigration laws, policies, and court rulings that enable and encourage migrants to band together and stage these types of illegal invasions.

Should we fail to solve any of these problems, our already dysfunctional immigration system will be further crippled, our relationships with Mexico and our Central American neighbors could be severely damaged, our border will be overwhelmed by droves of new migrants, and America will become significantly less safe.

If this caravan is allowed to get through, the next caravan will be even bigger – and the one following that will be enormous. According the Gallup World Poll, 29 percent of people who want to migrate from Latin America and the Caribbean want to make the United States their permanent homes. That is 37 million people who want to come here. We must demand and ensure that they do so legally.

The clearest answer to alleviating this issue while the caravan is still in Mexico, is for Mexico to stop it. President Trump has already made clear that securing the border is more important than our recent trade agreement with our southern neighbor, and Mexico should take him seriously. Many of the members of this caravan forced their way through the Guatemala-Mexico border. They are already in violation of Mexican law, and Mexican law enforcement should take action.

Furthermore, we should not underestimate the degree to which human traffickers and transnational criminal gangs, such as MS-13 and other cartels, are involved with this invasion force. Mexican authorities should also be seeking to weed these elements out of this migrant army – and dealing with those who may have legitimate asylum claims through the Mexican system.

Our neighbors must understand that while they did not assertively deal with this problem at their southern border, they will own the problem if it gets to their northern border.

This relates to what we must do if or when the caravan is allowed to arrive at the U.S. border.

President Trump should instruct the Attorney General to issue a clarification to define the qualifications for asylum. Asylum is meant to provide protection for people who are fleeing real persecution and human rights abuses, such as genocide. Simply being from a poor country that lacks opportunities does not qualify someone for asylum.

We already have approximately 750,000 backlogged asylum cases, and some of those cases date back to 2014. These invaders should be screened (preferably in Mexico) so they never enter the U.S. system.

The federal government should also immediately begin coordinating with local and state governments along the border to develop an organized, completely nonviolent system that can deter these migrants from crossing into the United States and process and return those who do within a matter of days – not weeks, months, or years. I know Texas already works with federal officials to prepare for mass migration events. Other border states should follow suit (if they don’t already) and begin preparing now for this caravan’s potential arrival.

If we are serious about preventing this caravan invasion from being imitated, we must overwhelm them, stop them in their tracks, and quickly return them to their home countries. By my estimate, we should have four to five U.S. forces for every member of the caravan. If we want to protect our country, our border, and our rule of law, we must mobilize so much force that we don’t have to use it.

The news media should be allowed to cover the preparation and the overwhelming response to the caravan, so the members of the caravan – and every potential caravanner across Central and South America – will see that their plan will not work.

These first two problems are urgent and difficult. The third problem is just as urgent – but it is an order of magnitude more challenging. That is figuring out how we must fix our failing immigration system so that this type of situation doesn’t arise again.

Our immigration system has been completely broken by Democrat-backed laws that make it easier for immigrants to flood our system and stay in our country while their cases take years to process. It has been further hobbled by activist judicial rulings that have tied the hands of border enforcement officials and prevented them from keeping track of those who cross the border illegally.

Once we deal with the immediate problem of this invasion caravan, Republicans and the White House must work to fix our broken immigration system once and for all.

Caravan of Central American migrants is headed to the United States.

For the second time this year, a caravan of Central American migrants is headed to the United States.

The group took off from San Pedro Sula earlier this week, a city located in the northern part of Honduras. The caravan crossed into Guatemala on Wednesday and is expected to cross into Mexico as they travel to the U.S.’s southern border. Originally the group started off in the few hundreds, they are now around 4,000 people.

This latest migrant caravan is another example of leftist groups grandstanding off of desperation and poverty. The Northern Triangle region of Central America where El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras are located is one of the most violent areas of the world. Transnational organized criminal groups and violent street gangs destabilize these impoverished countries. This leaves massive parts of the population vulnerable and with little means to survive.

Unfortunately, local governments lack the capacity and at times, the political will, to address these challenges.

Just like the migrant caravan earlier this March, organizers of this march are weaponizing poor Central Americans. This caravan was organized by Bartolo Fuentes, a former Honduran legislator and member of the radical leftist Libre party. He was detained by Guatemalan authorities on Tuesday for illegally entering the country.

Libre is not a political party but a destabilizing movement. It was founded in 2011 by former President Manuel (Mel) Zelaya. In 2009, Zelaya was removed from power after repeated attempts to undermine the constitutional order and rule of law. Zelaya is an ally of socialist governments in Latin America like the Castro and Maduro regimes in Cuba and Venezuela.

Following Libre’s losses in the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections, Libre’s turned to a public campaign of generating turmoil and instability.

I travel to Honduras frequently and experienced the chaos firsthand. In 2013, I was an international observer for the presidential elections. I was at the electoral tribunal headquarters as the votes were being counted when Zelaya stormed in and held a press conference disputing the election result.

His claim was ridiculous, as polls had only closed hours before. But he had a personal interest in the election: His wife was the party’s candidate. She ended up losing, earning less than 30 percent of the overall vote.

Even though various international groups gave the election a clean bill of health, party activists and agitators protested the results for days afterwards, shutting down major streets and highways.

Later in 2015, I returned to Honduras for a business trip. I was preparing to leave my hotel when the military showed up and told us that thousands of demonstrators carrying burning torches were headed to the presidential palace, which was right next to the hotel. For hours, we were confined in the hotel while thousands of protesters shut down traffic at the height of rush hour.

This caravan antic is right out of the left’s disorder and chaos playbook. The timing before the U.S.’s midterm elections and the change of presidency in Mexico is not coincidental. It is also clear the caravan organizers are more interested in creating turmoil than the well-being of the migrants.

The journey through Central America and Mexico is full of hazards, and migrants are frequently robbed, sexually assaulted, and go for long stretches without eating. Some fall prey to human trafficking organizations. Women and children are particularly vulnerable to these crimes.

The problem here is not a lack of compassion for these people, but rather, the dangerous precedent created by allowing a massive caravan to arrive at the U.S.’s southern border. The U.S. immigration system is already stretched beyond capacity and must prioritize those who apply for asylum in good faith.

Source and transit countries in the region have a role to play in stemming these flows. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is traveling to Mexico on Friday to visit with his counterparts and address the crisis.

The U.S. must take action to secure its borders and faithfully enforce its law. Loopholes must be closed and adequate enforcement resources brought to bear. This can be done in a humane manner while also protecting those who truly qualify for asylum.

Young Angry Men & Gangbangers March Towards U.S. Yelling “Vamos Para Allá Trump!” From Judicial Watch Besides gang members and mobs of young angry men, the Central American caravan making its way into the United States also consists of Africans, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans and Indians. Judicial Watch is covering the crisis from the Guatemalan-Honduran border this week and observed that the popular mainstream media narrative of desperate migrants—many of them women and children—seeking a better life is hardly accurate. Guatemalan intelligence officials confirmed that the caravan that originated in the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula includes a multitude of Special Interest Aliens (SIA) from the countries listed above as well as other criminal elements and gang members. There are also large groups of men, some with criminal histories, aggressively demanding that the U.S. take them in. During a visit to the Guatemalan town of Chiquimula, about 35 miles from the Honduran border, Judicial Watch encountered a rowdy group of about 600 men, ages 17 to about 40, marching north on a narrow two-lane highway. Among them was a 40-year-old Honduran man who previously lived in the United States for decades and got deported. His English was quite good, and he said his kids and girlfriend live in the U.S. Another man in his 30s contradicted media reports that caravan participants are fleeing violence and fear for their life. “We’re not scared,” he said waving his index finger as others around him nodded in agreement. “We’re going to the United States to get jobs.” Others chanted “vamos para allá Trump!” (We’re coming Trump) as they clenched their fists in the air. “We need money and food,” said a 29-year-old man who made the trek with his 21-year-old brother. All of the migrants interviewed by Judicial Watch repeated the same rehearsed line when asked who organized the caravan, insisting it was a spontaneous event even though there were clearly organizers shouting instructions in Spanish and putting select persons in front of cameras for interviews. A few claimed they heard about it on local news in Honduras. All of them said the caravan was not about politics but rather poverty. “I just want to get back to the U.S.,” said a 32-year-old man who admitted he has been deported from the U.S. twice. “We are all just looking for work.” The group radiated a sense of empowerment. One marcher, who appeared to be in his late teens, yelled “you go live in Honduras and see what it’s like!” Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, a conservative, said in a local newspaper report that leftist interests seeking to destabilize the country are manipulating migrants.  Women and children are being used without regard to the risks to their lives, Hernández said. “The irregular mobilization was organized for political reasons to negatively affect the governance and image of Honduras and to destabilize the peace of neighboring countries,” the president said, adding that many have returned to the country after realizing they’ve been fooled. Guatemala is overwhelmed with the sudden onslaught and immigration officials confirmed 1,700 migrants have been returned to Honduras on buses. The first wave of migrants totaled about 4,000, according to Guatemalan government sources, followed by a second, less organized group of about 2,000. The impoverished Central American nation needs help, including logistical, communications and civil affairs support to stop the human caravans. “There are only so many resources we can dedicate to this,” said Guatemalan Secretary of Strategic Intelligence Mario Duarte. Guatemalans are getting robbed and crimes are being committed by the people in the caravans, Duarte said.

It was the FBI and CIA, not Trump, that was colluding with Russians

Two bombshell reports largely being ignored by the mainstream media provide further evidence that it wasn’t President Donald Trump who was colluding with Russians, it was the FBI and CIA which were using private sector operatives with Russian contacts, along with a compliant media, to set up the Trump campaign.

The information comes from two government whistleblowers: former Defense Department analyst Adam Lovinger and FBI Special Agent Jonathan Moffa.

Lovinger discovered, quite by accident, that former emeritus Cambridge professor Stefan Halper – who has vast ties to Russian intelligence, including through a think tank at Cambridge University that has received funding from a Russian billionaire with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putting – was being paid $1 million from the federal treasury to spy on Trump campaign operatives Michael Flynn, Carter Page and George Papadopoulos.  When he took that information to his superiors he was kicked out of his National Security Council job and sent to the Pentagon annex called “the land of misfit toys.” He later had his security clearance revoked and was fired.

Moffa told Congress earlier this month that the FBI regularly defrauded the FISA court by leaking stories to a compliant media then using those leaked stories as a basis for obtaining warrants for spying on Americans. Moffa, though, couldn’t say for sure whether this was the case for obtaining warrants on Trump operatives like Flynn, Page and Papadopoulos.

But from previous reporting we know that leaks to the press and their subsequent stories were the basis for FISA warrants on Trump operatives. It started in 2016 when Halper told the FBI he had witnessed Flynn speaking with Russian academic Svetlana Lokhova at a seminar. That meeting was leaked to the BBC and eventually found its way into U.S. media.

“But it didn’t matter that it wasn’t the truth,” the former senior intelligence official told Sarah Carter. “It was already out there because of Halper’s allegations and the constant leaking and lying of false stories of those to the media.”

As SarahCarter.com reports:

A former senior intelligence official told this news outlet, “It’s all smoke and mirrors. Halper was well aware when he was bringing in [Russian Ambassador Vladimir I.] Trubnikov in 2012 that the Russian’s (sic) were already there at his invitation. The FBI uses Halper to get more information on Trump aides but it’s Halper who has the real connection to Russia.”

Of course, we know that the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC were also colluding with Russians to get Trump. They paid the law firm of Perkins Coie, which paid the opposition research firm Fusion GPS (which employed the wife of FBI agent Bruce Ohr), which paid Christopher Steele, who conspired with Russians to get dirt on Trump, including setting up the meeting at Trump Tower with some Russians on false pretenses.

But Lovinger sheds new light on the depth of the real collusion story.

Lovinger’s attorney, Sean Bigle, told Sarah Carter, “Mr. Lovinger unwittingly shined a spotlight on the deep state’s secret weapon – Stefan Halper – and threatened to expose the truth about the Trump-Russia collusion narrative than being plotted: that it was all a set-up.”
