Total
Living Network’s FAITH CHICAGO Awarded TV Program of the Year by the NRB
Chicago – March 13, 2018 – Total Living Network
(TLN), part of Total Living International, Inc. (TLI) announced that its series
FAITH CHICAGO has been awarded the TV Program of the Year Award by the National
Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Association.
FAITH CHICAGO, produced locally and hosted by TLN President/CEO
Debra Fraser, highlights the issues, events and people in the community who are
impacting the city to bring positive change to Chicagoland. Too often, negative news dominates the television
headlines – and in Chicago where TLN has been based for over 41 years, there’s
no shortage of bad news. But there’s a
great deal of effective ministry and impactful outreach that’s also happening
throughout Chicago’s city and suburbs.
FAITH CHICAGO was inspired by Pray Chicago (now Chicagoland
United in Prayer), which unites churches and individuals in prayer against the
violence in Chicagoland. In 2016,
Chicago logged more than 700 homicides and over 4,000 shooting victims, and though
violence has dropped in recent months, Chicago still ended 2017 with
historically high totals. However, there are extraordinary people and
organizations addressing this issue and ministering to the victims and their
families, week in and week out. Those
positive stories and others like it are the topics of FAITH CHICAGO. Fraser commented, “We’re devoted to making a positive difference in the lives of
others. We’re honored to receive this
award and to recognize the countless men and women within this community who
are dedicated to change.”
The NRB’s Annual Media Award is designed to encourage
excellence in production, service to the community, faithfulness to the
mission, commitment to the gospel and personal integrity. "I'm
very pleased that we have been awarded Program of the Year by the NRB and I'm
very proud of our TLN team. It’s a
testimony to our commitment to community service and quality video production,”
said TLI Chairman, Jerry Rose.
Scott Parker, CEO at Change Media Group commented, “I love the diversity of ideas you’re
introducing!” And TLN program
partner, Stephen Welch, Director of Development at Chicago’s Pacific Garden
Mission said, “Thank you, TLN, for all
you do – communicating truth and faith in real time. Congratulations!”
TLN launched as WCFC TV38 in 1976 with Mayor Richard J.
Daley presiding as guest speaker at the McCormick Place dedication. Over its
forty-plus years of operation, TLN has produced original programming serving
the Chicagoland faith community and has received numerous Midwest Emmy awards.
In Illinois, TLN is an exclusive XFINITY TV channel covering Chicago, most of
Illinois and Northwest Indiana on basic channel 138. TLN streams programming
live at www.tln.com, and can be found on IP
platforms ROKU, Amazon FireTV and Android TV.
