A reminder of why political royalty sucks
Failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton recently explained that she lost because everyone living in flyover country is a backwards hillbilly.
“If you look at the map of the United States, there’s all that red in the middle where Trump won,” Clinton said during a trip to Mumbai over the weekend. “I win the coast….I won the places that represent two-thirds of America’s gross domestic product. So I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward. And his whole campaign, ‘Make America Great Again,’ was looking backwards.”
Clinton went on to explain that Americans living in rural parts of the country and cities decimated by years of industrial decline are just a bunch of racist bigots.
“You didn’t like black people getting rights, you don’t like women, you know, getting jobs. You…see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are. Whatever your problem is, I’m going to solve it,” was the message Trump won those voters with, Clinton said.
This is, of course, horseshit. But because it’s become apparent that the Russians didn’t actually win the election for Trump, I suppose Clinton has little choice but to pivot back to the old “basket of deplorables” trope.
If you step back for a moment from Clinton’s attempt to portray the places in America she didn’t win as white trash paradises, however, it’s easy to hear what she’s really saying.
I won the places where the mega-donors and corporate tycoons live, the elites of my country love me. Trump won the losers in the middle.
The losers in the middle are unemployed construction and industrial workers and the troves of underemployed Americans struggling to make ends meet thanks to the globalists policies Clinton and her elitist friends are all about.
