Grove students raise $21,083.85 for American Heart Association
Surpass
goal by nearly $5,000
Goodings Grove students outdid themselves, raising a whopping $21,083.85
for the American Heart Association.
Their goal was to raise $16,300.
“We blew our goal out of the water,” P.E. teacher Nate Keasler told
students during an all-school assembly on March 2.
As promised, students got to toss cream pies at their school principal,
Ann Christie.
Since 2012, the school has raised more than $72,000 for the American
Heart Association through its annual Jump Rope for Heart activities, including T-shirt
sales, popcorn sales and PTO treat earnings.
This year, they also purchased heart suckers, flashlights and kits to
make heart scarves with Mrs. Christie.
“Every penny you donated is going to make a difference,” said Christie.
“Because of you, a lot of lives are going to be saved.”
The American Heart Association estimates every $50 raised saves one
life.
Students cheered as they learned their school had raised enough money to
save 421 lives this year.
