Their craven arrogance has makes us all less safe.”   March 8, 2018 - State Representative Jeanne Ives, the conservative reform Republican for Governor, is calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions and President Donald Trump to come to Chicago to discuss immigration policy. Sessions was recently in California where he threw down the gauntlet, rebuking California Democrats for their “radical open borders agenda.” Quoting acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, Tom Homan, Sessions said, “‘being a law enforcement officer is already dangerous enough, but to give the criminals a heads up that we’re coming in the next 24 hours increases that risk.’” The Attorney General then took direct aim at Oakland Mayor Libby Scaaf. “So here’s my message to Mayor Schaaf: How dare you? How dare you needlessly endanger the lives of law enforcement just to promote a radical open borders agenda?” “We have the same problem in Illinois,” said Ives. “But unlike California, where it is just Democrats putting these radical policies in place, Illinois’ Republican Governor Bruce Rauner made us a sanctuary state, even though 67 of 73 Republican state legislators voted against it.
