25 Homer Junior High students selected to perform at Carnegie Hall
Talented teens will take the stage June 23

Twenty-five Homer Junior High School students are headed to New York this summer to perform at Carnegie Hall.

The students, who are all members of the school’s Junior High Chorus, were selected for the honor after being nominated by their choral director, Diane Pullara. They also had to complete a rigorous audition process.

“These students went through a rigorous audition process and were notified of their selection for the ensemble on March 14,” said Pullara, who plans to begin preparing the students for the June 23 performance immediately.

“This is an exciting time of year for the students who were nominated, auditioned and selected for this prestigious performing ensemble,” she added.

The Middle School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall showcases the most talented middle school performers from around the world.

Through a choral director nomination, individual audition and selection process, accomplished middle school students are brought together in New York City with peers to comprise the Honors Junior Choir and Honors Junior Instrumental Ensemble.

This is not the first time Homer Junior High Show Choir students have been selected to perform at Carnegie Hall. Last year, 18 students were selected to make the trip to New York.

This year’s Middle School Honors Performance Series will be June 20-24, with students performing on the 23rd.
