At the May 30th Board of Education meeting:

     Music teacher Jodi Bordenaro and P.E. teacher Wendy Bruin asked the Board to consider hiring additional staff to accommodate the student growth and to preserve the quality of the District’s music and physical education programs

     Will County Board member Steve Balich thanked the Board for its fiscal responsibility and not asking voters to approve an additional 1 percent County School Facilities Sales Tax

     Parent Eric Briseno spoke about a matter that was not resolved to his satisfaction

     The Board recognized the District’s retirees: Karen Kraynak, Cindy Jager, Terra Nichele, Mary Christine Miller, Gloria Feeley, Carol Ziegler, Carol Bialon, Joanne Decaire, Anne Antanaitis, Carole Costa, Cynthia Patrick, Patricia Weber, Diane Wojowski, Eva Hull, David Trella, Eileen Roe, Debra Primozic, Lawrence Kosiara and Donald Fudala

     Members DeSchaaf and Petrizzo reported security options are being crafted by Tria Architects and will be shared at the next Board meeting. Member DeFilippis reported the District Leadership Team is finalizing plans for the school year

     Teachers Union representative Cathy Clayton said they look forward to collaborating with the District’s new administrative team

     Support Staff Union representative Stella Kapusta wished everyone a great summer

     The Board approved resolutions to proclaim the work outlined in the Health and Safety Survey/Amendment reports for:
     Hadley Middle School
     Schilling School
     Butler School

     The Board reviewed and approved the 2018-2019 Code of Conduct and the Parent/Student Handbook

     The Board reviewed and approved the 2018-2019 Hazardous Zone Resolution

     Members of the District Leadership Team presented a report on how students are performing by sharing the results of the 5Essentials Surveys, AIMS testing and MAP testing

     The Board approved the summer camp rate of pay at $60/hour for four hours per day

     The Board approved the updated MOU for extra duty (previously approved at the May 27, 2017 Board Meeting)

     The Board agreed to work with Will County on traffic control on Cedar Road to alleviate congestion near Schilling School, Young School and the Transportation Center

     The Board accepted the retirement Linda Marciniak, subject to compliance with the terms and conditions of the District’s one-time IMRF retirement incentive program and to approve the separation agreement, effective June 30, 2020

     The Board approved the revised Credit and Procurement Card Use Agreement

     The Board, following closed session, approved compensation increases of 3.7 percent going towards TRS for District Administrators for the 2018-2019 School year. Personnel covered by this increase are: Christine Graefen, Melissa Onesto, Erin Shannon, Jason Skube, Kristen Schroeder, Greg Zurales, Renee Karalus, Kelly Kardas, Candis Gasa, Nathan Baldwin, Mike Szopinski and David Mekhiel. The Board also approved a 3.7 percent salary increase for Glen Wysong for the 2018-2019 school year

     The Board did not grant Kendra Michalik a variance in the Certified Staff Retirement Incentive as presented in closed session



       The Next Regular School Board Meeting is June 26, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
