GOP State Central Committeeman Chastises GOP Chairman, Supports Ives Ad

According to a report in Prairie State Wire, John McGlasson, a member of the Illinois Republican Party's State Central Committee, is “lauding gubernatorial candidate Jeanne Ives' provocative new ad, ‘Thank You, Bruce Rauner,’ while taking her critics to task for trying to force the party to take sides in the contentious March 20 primary.”
McGlasson criticized State Party Chairman Tim Schneider’s comments about the ad saying, “He shouldn’t be taking sides in a primary race. But it appears as though Rauner has bought and paid for the Republican Party with all the money he’s given it.”
Of the ad McGlasson states, “In an age of ambiguity in politics, it’s a clear, unambiguous message about what Rauner stands for. Everything in the video is correct.”
The bills cited in the video are HB 1785, SB 31, HB 40 and SB 2814.  According to polling data, HB 1785 and SB 31 are opposed by a supermajority of Illinois GENERAL election voters. All are opposed by a supermajority of GOP primary voters as they were a supermajority of GOP legislators.

  • HB 1785, Transgender Birth Certificates: 6 of 73 House and Senate Republicans voted for it (0 in the Senate). Ives voted ‘No.’ Rauner signed it.
  • SB 31, Sanctuary State: 6 of 73 House and Senate Republicans voted for it. Ives voted ‘No.’ Rauner signed it.
  • HB 40, Taxpayer-Funding of Abortion: 0 of 73 House and Senate Republicans voted for it. Ives voted ‘No.’ Rauner signed it.
