Batinick to host Children’s Safety Expo

PLAINFIELD – State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) will host a free Children’s Safety Expo in Plainfield on June 9.

“We are going to have a great event for kids, parents, grandparents and families,” Batinick said. “We will have demonstrations, activities, and refreshments, plus a lot of good information on resources in our area and ways to keep kids safe and healthy.”

The event will be Saturday June 9 from 9 a.m. until noon at Plainfield Central High School, located at 24120 Fort Beggs Drive. More than 50 state and local organizations will be on hand to provide information on the services they offer. They include government agencies, non-profits, local businesses, hospitals and many more.

Demonstrations during the day include a touch-a-truck area featuring construction and emergency vehicles as well as an appearance by an Air Methods LIFESTAR medical helicopter from 9:30 until 10:30. There will also be a K-9 demonstration by the Shorewood Police Department, a traveling reptile show, a martial arts demonstration, free haircuts and refreshments throughout the morning, and much more.

“This is a great opportunity to discover the wide range of services and programs in our area – and all in one place,” Batinick said. “I encourage everyone to stop by.”
