Executive Directors Message
It seems that IGOLD is always way out there in the distance and then suddenly, one morning, you wake up and realize IT’S NEXT WEEK! That time has come again. IGOLD has never been more needed than this year. Both the Senate and House Judiciary Committees are stacked with liberal anti-gunners who don’t care about you or the Second Amendment. Instead, they want to make us the whipping boy for the failures of government.
Usually, when the legislature adjourns on May 31st we all breathe a sigh of relief. That won’t be the case this year. While the legislature will not be in session, work must continue. The 2018 elections are going to determine the future of the Second Amendment at both the state and national levels. Sadly, we have lost R. Lee Ermey, a great voice for the Second Amendment and gun owners everywhere. I had the privilege of meeting him several times at different events through the years. I can tell you the Gunny was real, on or off the camera. He was passionate about the U.S. Military, gun owners and the Second Amendment. At shows he would shake the hands of his fans until he had to leave before becoming exhausted. In meetings, it was never about him, it was about getting whatever task at hand done, and done right. We should all take a moment for the Gunny. The Illinois State Rifle Association, Second Amendment Foundation and Illinois Carry have sued the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services because they substantially prohibit home day care licensees, and those who would be home day care licensees, from possessing firearms for the purpose of self-defense. This case, known as Miller v IDCFS, was filed in the U.S. District Court of Illinois. This has been a complaint of home day care licensees for years. The ISRA continues to fight for you.
